Bloomberg recently published a report on the progress of Saudi Arabia digitizing their economy and the impact on data centers in the Kingdom.
They highlighted a number of leading global companies such as Microsoft, Amazon and Equinix who have committed to build data center capacity in the region and forecast growth rates in excess of other comparable markets.
With a strategic focus on AI and technology, one of our Managing Partners', Stephen Macdonald, was positive on the ability of Saudi Arabia to push towards a regional leader role in this space.
Stephen was quoted complementing Saud Arabia on their "strong conviction and ability to deploy resources" which will be essential to achieving the challenges of building data centers at scale including addressing energy costs and time to build. Furthermore, he added that Saudi Arabia "have the ambition and capital to be at the forefront of this", reflective of our view that both KSA and the wider GCC, will be a leader in the new world of data centers.
