China’s Contech and Proptech sectors have reached a critical inflection point. Backed by rapid domestic deployment, robust supply chains, and specialized robotic hardware, Chinese tech companies are shifting focus toward international expansion.
Here is a look at the geographic landscape, key market players, and global strategy shaping China's Contech sector in 2026.
Contech and Proptech startups in China are concentrated around key regional hubs, with each region specializing in distinct technology tracks. Shanghai leads overall startup concentration with over 45 companies, serving as the primary driver for the Digital Tech track. Shenzhen follows closely with 40 or more startups, capitalizing on its local hardware manufacturing ecosystem to lead the Construction Robot track. Beijing holds the third position with over 30 companies, heavily focused on Digital Tech. Meanwhile, Guangzhou anchors the Prefabricated Building track with 25 startups, Hangzhou supports 20 companies across diverse tech tracks, and regional clusters in cities like Xi'an, Chengdu, Suzhou, Chongqing, and Hefei account for more than 50 additional startups combined.

China’s industrial robotics sector dominates global production, accounting for 54% of global industrial robot deployments, far surpassing Japan, the U.S., and Europe combined. This rapid adoption on job sites is driven by a strong domestic market, complete local supply chains, and low production costs.
A diverse group of specialized players is driving automated site work across the country. Country Garden's Bright Laser leads in scale with over 30 types of construction robots. Companies like Waijian Technology focus on interior wall processing, including fan-type latex paint spraying and ground grinding, while Fangshi Technology produces concrete floor handling, spraying, and real-time measurement robots that have covered millions of square meters. Additionally, Dafang Intelligent and Zhucheng Tech specialize in wall-processing and high-altitude exterior spraying robots. In measurement tech, Anrui Technology has deployed its real-time measurement robots across more than 500 enterprise projects, including developments for China Resources Land and Gold Mantis.
Five years of validating these technologies across hundreds of domestic projects have laid a solid foundation for international growth. Chinese Contech and Proptech firms are actively looking beyond their domestic borders for new markets and capital opportunities.
Survey data shows that 40% of companies are actively planning global expansion, while 55% are interested in overseas markets and capital but remain in an observation phase. Only 5% of surveyed firms maintain a strictly domestic focus, matching the 5% that have already established mature overseas trial modes.

The ecosystem spans several core technology pillars and is supported by substantial market capitalization and private investment. Publicly listed companies in the sector feature market capitalizations ranging from 2 billion to 60 billion RMB, while top players generate over 50 million RMB in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR). Beyond public firms, over 300 non-listed startups have raised more than 10 million RMB.
From a product perspective, the ecosystem breaks down into a few main categories. Digital Tech leads in numbers with over 100 companies, covering visualization management (Yi Jian Tech), production information systems (Huazhu Tech), and project management tools (Dougongyun).
The AI-Native space features more than 20 companies, including architectural design AI solutions like D5 Render, Pinlan, and An AI. Prefabricated and Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) includes 50 companies handling supply chain orchestration (Dalezhuang) and low-rise modular builds (Zhujian Meizhu). Construction Robotics features over 30 companies automating plastering, painting, measurement, and floor grinding. Finally, over 130 companies are active across Materials Tech and Smart Building, pioneering solutions in non-electric refrigeration (iCooling), carbon capture, and temporary mold structures.
