Owner-Operator
Our client was a mid-sized owner operator of a portfolio of colocation data centers. They were in the process of acquiring a small portfolio of similar data centers from a peer who had changed business strategy and wanted to understand how best to position their new assets.

The Ask
The client wanted a 5-year view on technology innovation and an understanding of what was currently best practice in the industry around technology. This would inform their strategic planning around the acquisition and a technology adoption strategy for their new assets as they retrofitted and updated the data centers.
The Solution
We identified that the client first needed to understand the current level of tech adoption globally to understand how to assess their current and acquired portfolio. We delivered a market landscape report highlighting global leaders and examples of competitors benchmarked. We also highlighted the different impacts of current technology on the key metrics for performance, including energy and tenant retention.
The Outcome
We curated a technology trend focused on their core business use case and geographies which gave five key tech types which would have the most tangible impact on their strategy. We then assessed the underlying technology solutions within these types and curated, scored and benchmark the tech solutions based on client needs and metrics. This led to defined long list and short list of recommended technologies to consider for RFP.
